My specialism is children aged 7 to 11, which is Years 3 to 6 in the UK curriculum, (Primary 2 to Primary 5 in Hong Kong). This is Key Stage 2 for children following the British National Curriculum. I do also work with some students outside this age range: please get in touch to discuss whether I can help.

I offer online lessons only. This means your child can access specialist 1:1 English tuition from a qualified native English teacher wherever you are in the world whether you're in Hong Kong, Germany, or elsewhere, with no travel time and complete flexibility around your schedule. Many families find online lessons work just as well as face-to-face tuition. If you are unsure whether online tutoring is the right fit for your child, you are very welcome to book a trial lesson with no commitment and see how they find it. Many parents who were initially unsure were pleasantly surprised by how quickly their child settled in and how naturally it worked.

In my experience, online lessons can actually work particularly well for shy children. Being in the comfort of their own home, with no classmates around, and speaking one-to-one rather than in a group, removes a lot of the pressure that makes speaking up feel daunting. Many of the children I work with started out very quiet and have grown in confidence over time, often surprising their parents and their school teachers. Lessons take place on Zoom. Your child does not need to create an account. Before your first lesson, I will send you a link to your child's own personal virtual classroom. They simply click the link, enter the meeting details, and they are in. No downloads or sign-ups required on their part.
